Efforts have been made to secure better ■transport facilities for the district, and some requests were granted.
One much-needed, concession, transfer tickets, the Tramways Department was unable toi grant. It is hoped, however, to have this granted during the coming year.
Representatives met the City Councillors at Melrose, and secured the execution of a number of long overdue works, most important of which were: Improvements to Antieo street; Eodrigo road, Caprera street: formation of turning place for cars at Sutherland crescent; construction of path to Melrose Hall; extension of zig zag at Buckingham street extension. The Works Committee could not, however, grant improvements to Duncan terrace, Sutherland and Hornsey roads. We hope to have these carried out during the coming year. The spoil from Eodrigo road is being tipped at the end of Sutherland crescent, and we hope when it is completed to have a fine play area and possibly a tennis court there. The hall property still remains in good condition. An electric heater has been obtained, which adds to the comfort of card enthusiasts during winter nights.
