LODGE MEETINGS
.Pride of Brooklyn Lodge, U.A.0.D., No. 58, held its quarterly meeting at Brooklyn .recently. Amongst the visitors were the district president, Bro., Lyall, P'.D.P. Bro. Abel,' and P.S. Bro. Mollison. After the usual lodge business had been disposed of the lodge went-into harmony, and musical items were contributed by the following: —Bros. Tremayne; Ranlrin,- Bickford, Dpckery, Johnston, May. McCornish, Thornton, Bray, Avatt, Rubeinstein, and Ogilyie.
The fortnightly meeting of Onslow Lodge, No. 123. 1.0. G.F., N.Z., was.held recently, Bro. H. Johnson,, N.G., presiding ■over a :good attendance. Gtticers of Wildey Lodge paid an ofliciitl visit,-'and were welcomed.. The lodge meeting closed early, and the remainder of. the evening was spent in harmony. .
The regular meeting of Waiwhetu Lodge, No.- 136, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held recently at Upper Hutt, Bro. Beavis, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. Two can-didates-were proposed for membership. Reports of committees were' received on hospital; and medical riiatters. The. first -nomination of officers for the ensuing term were-received, after which the lodge:closed.
The fortnightly meeting of Wildey Lodge, No. 107, 1.0.0.F,, N.Z., Island Bay, was held'last evening; when-Bro. L. D. Wells, P.G<, presided. There was a good attendance, visitors ' including- Bro. Haughton (Southern Cross Lodge), and the TD.D.G.M., Bro. G. F. Rudkin, and district officers, andalso the D.D.GiM. and officers of the Hutt Valley, on official visits. Two brothers' were declared on the sick fund, and relative sick pay, with medical and hospital refunds were passed for payment. Invitations to socials from Kupe and Zealandia Lodges were accepted. Bros. Barrowrnan and Holding reported on the'activities of the United Friendly Socities Council and Medical Institute, which they represent on; behalf of this lodge. Reports of an official : visit to Onslow Lodge, the cribbage shield match, together with reports' of other committees, were received and adopted. One candidate was proposed for membership. The first nomination of officers was taken. Routine business having been concluded, the D.D.G.M. then took over the meeting, to enable him to present Bro. W. S. Hammond with a; suitable presentation for his heroic efforts at the wreck of the Progress. Past Grands' certificates were also presented to Bros. Holding and Goodall, followed by the presentation-of a Past Grand's collar to Bro. C. E. Tanner, P.G., for services to the lodge. Harmony brought the meeting to a close.
The fortnightly meeting of Kupe Lodge, No. 149, 1.0.0. F., N.Z. t was held recently, when Bro. Mathers, P.G., presided over a good attendance. -Two brothers reported visiting other lodges. There was one application for membership. Visitors included Bros. Cousins and Hedges (Maranui Lodge). '
At the fortnightly meeting of Southern Cross Lodge, No. 24, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Bro. J. G. McGregor, N.G., presided over a good ■ attendance. ' Sick pay, medical and ordinary accounts, were passed for payment. Sick visiting reports were made by the KG., Bro. W. Jarvis and Bro. J. Kidd: Official visits were received from the D.D.G;M., Bro. Rudkin, and suite and officers of Cleveland Lodge. Invitations from Zealandia ; and Kupe Lodges were accepted, while the challenge for the cribbage shield made by Zealandia Lodge was accepted. Two candidates for initiation were received,; and an investigation committee appointed. The first nomination of officers resulted in the following nominations:—N.G.,;Bro.R. S. Meech; V.G.,Bros. Woolcott, A. Ryan, G. Hobbs, and W. Dunne; F.S.-, Bro. J. Condliffe; treasurer, Bro. R. C. Andrew; R.S., Brp. G. Hobbs. Photographs of the executive officers were approved for publication in the official handbook; After business, had been disposed of Cleveland Lodge played Southern Cross Lodge for the "500" shield/but without success.

A' ritual competition was held to decide which candidate is to compete in the district competition. The lodge closed, and members then played cards. One candidate was nominated for membership, and one was initiated. An official visit - was made by members of neretaunga Lodge. During the evening a ritual competition was. held. The first nomination of officers was taken • for the ensuing term. Among visitors present were Bros. Armstrong, Oliff, Woodgate, C. E. Bums, G. Bugg, and Macleay. Lodge to a .social was accepted. Visiting officially were members of Esther and Rose of Wellington Rebekah Lodges. Ihe nrst nomination of officers were taken. It was decided to make an official visit to Victoria Rebekah Lodge. Sister Brammall (Esther Lodge) and Sister Jones (Kose of Wellington) conveyed fraternal greetings from their respective lodges. Greetings from Port Nicholson Encampment and Southern Cross Lodge were also received.. Bro. Morgan, N.G.. presided over' the quarterly meeting ■of Loyal .Kilbirnie Lodge, Manchester Unity. A vote "of thanks was passed to the Past Grand's Lodge for a donation of £1 is to the social fund. Accounts to the amount of * 1$ 'were passed- for payment. The first combined visit of town and suburban lodges, Manchester Unity Oddfellows, was held at Loyal Kilbirnie Lodge recently, Bro. Morgan, KG., presiding. There was a large attendance. A cordial welcome was extended by the N.G. 'and Iqdge honours were heartily given. Bro T. Lynneberg, president of the Past Grands' Lodge, replied. Representatives of hdges also replied. Cards and dancing terminated the evening. Sister Webber and Bro. Leggatt presided at the piano, while Bro. Wellwood carried out the duties of M.C. During the evening Mr. V.
