FERENCE
The first triennial conference of the jGranti United Order of Oddfellows, held in Wellington, was completed recently rtvith the installation of Bro. A. J. Chorley as Grand Master for the ensuing period, [^t.the opening of the conference Bro. W. Bain, the retiring Grand Master, occupied (the principal chair.
Delegates and Grand Lodge officers were present as follows:—Bro. W. Bai_ (Grand Master), Bro. A. J. Chorley (Deputy. Grand Master), Bro. L. Ponder (Past Grand Master), Bro. V. E. Bradstock Grand Secretary), Bros. A. Kerse, J. Murphy and A. J. Hooper (Grand Trustees), Bros. F. Hay, G. Morgan, J. Slynes, S. Barnett and J. Prescott. (Grand Directors). Lodge delegates: Bro. G. Smith (Auckland District Master), Bro. B. Eyde (Wellington District Master), Bro. C. Bai (Auckland); Sister L. Hey (Pride of the Valley), Sister E. 'Martin (Star of Newtown), Bro. E. Topp (Newtown Alpha), Bro. (Loyal Central), Bro. S. Ede (Arahina), Bro. E. J. Browne (Miramar), Bro.- J. A. Brown (Loyal Onslow), Bro. I. Heathcote (Star of Lower Hutt), and Bro. H. Brooker (Loyal William Bain). Bro. R. Norton was .recording secretary. Grand, Lodge officers, delegates, and visitors were welcomed- by- the Grand Master, and fraternal greetings-were-exchanged between the conference" and other friendly societies in New Zealand' and England. Fraternal greetings we're also exchanged between the Auckland and Wellington Dis-" trict Masters, and by Bro.- E. McQueen bs Council Master Guardian.' : '. f■
The election of officers took place dur--sng the third session, and resulted as follows:—Bro. A. J. Chorley, Grand Master; Bro. F. Hay, Deputy Grand Master; Bro. E: V. Bradstock, Grand Secretary; Bro. A. J. Cooper, Grand. Treasurer; Bros. Prescott, JT Murphy, and E. Norton, Grand Trustees. .
The installation of officers was carried but by the retiring. Gfcand ' Master, Bro. Bain, assisted by Bro. Smith' (Auckland) tend Bro. Kyde (Wellington). After their, installation- the • new officers returned thanks for their election. ' r -An official visit was received during the fifth session from the Wellington District Council, as follows, the visitors being received with lodge honours:—Bro. Eyde (District Master), Bro. E. Butler (Deputy District Master), Sister Hooper (District Secretary), Sister Martin; (District Treaurer), Bros. W. Savery, E, J, Casey, and C. H. Martin .(District- Trustee).- • During the final 'session of' the' cofiferfence opportunity was taken' to farewell Bros. Ponder and Bain, Past Grand Mas-. ters of the Order, who were accorded lodge honours.
Sisters of the Order -who bad helped on the social side of the conference were tendered the , thanks of the delegates, and Bro. Chorley'then;'brought the proceedings to an end with the "Honours of the Order." •
