Citizens of Haplewood, New Jersey United States, were requested by the town engineers not to burn their leaves. Instead, the leaves were gathered by the town and were treated with chemicals. A leaf mould valued at £300 resulted— incidentally saving two-thirds of the usual expense for ■ fertiliser for. trees and shrubbery.
