EASTBOURNE WATER

SUBURBAN BOARD'S

OPINION

Mention was made at to-day's meeting, of the City and Suburban Water Board of the Eastbourne water supply problem, but the board's interest- is mainly in regard to the location of the mains in. the roadway. So far no word has been received as to the result of the conference, suggested by the board, between the- Hutt County and rho Eastbourne Borough Councils on the question whether the mains should be laid on the seaward or the landward side of the foreshore road from •Eastern Hutt to Eastbourne, but members remarked that the work so far done had been o:*- the seaward side. •> The Water Board has already indicated that it will oppose the laying of water mains on the landward side, and to-day reaffirmed that attitude.
