Williaui^Gunn, a labourer, aged 51, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment w bta^nhlg^ £li 6s from Thomas Weatherburn by false pretences. Detec-tive-Sergeant Tricklebank- said the accused had obtained a cheque for £14 Cs from -Mr. Weatherburn in return for a valueless one he (the accused) :had filled in. After that Gunn started drinking heavily, and went to Levin, where he spent all the money.
