SITUATION AT SHANGHAI
TRUCE FAIRLY WELL OBSERVED
ANGLO-AMERICAN EFFORTS RENEWED
TO MAKE ARMISTICE EFFECTIVE
(British Official Wireless.) (Received Ist February, 11 a.m.) RUGBY, 30th January. The truce arranged at Shanghai last night as the result of the intervention of the British and United States Consuls-General was fairly well observed, although there was a good deal of street fighting, which continued during the morning. The ConsulsGeneral resumed their efforts to-day, with a view to consolidating the truce and making the Armistice effective. The situation generally was reported quieter this afternoon.
