CORNWELL CUP
START POSTPONED
WEATHER UNSUITABLE
Tho first race in the Cornwall Cup series was to have been sailed in Evans Bay this morning, but although everything was in readiness the strong northerly wind and rough sea made racing out of the question. A meeting of the Dominion Conference was held, and it was decided that if the weather moderated sufficiently a start would be made this afternoon. As there are eight crews competing and the cup goes to the first crew to win three races, the controlling body is anxious to make as much headway in the initial stages as possible, but with conditions such as prevailed this morning there would inevitably have been numerous capsizes, creating a risk to the crows which will not be taken under any circumstances.
Although the weather had moderated somewhat by this afternoon, it was still too boisterous for the boats, and the first race was further postponed until 10 o'clock to-morrow morning. It will be sailed in Evans Bay, starting off Point Jemingham anu finishing at the same point.
Tho competing crews and the. delegates and other officials are being provided with luncheon, each day by the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club, which has also undertaken the billeting of tho boys and tho housing of the boats.
