The results of a < Bolshevik experiment outside Eussia are recorded in a book entitled. "The City of the Bed Plague : Soviet Bule in a Baltic Town," by George Popoff. Riga, the town in question, was placed under Bolshevik rule for five months during 1919. The book contains a,first-hand account' of the, little known circumstances of that episode, translated by E. T. John.

Mrs. _ Sinclair Lewis, who has been on a visit to London, earned a Teputation for herself as a journalist when she saw Miss Dorothy Thompsoa and the. Berlin correspondent of a New York newspaper. At present she is gathering material for a book on the situation in Europe. Her last book was called "The New Russia." She married Mr. Lewis, the winder of this year's Nobel Prize for Literature, in 1928. Mr. Lewis hns remained behind in America, where he is working -on a new novel.
