POINTS FROM LETTERS
Complaint is made by "Every 'Morning Traveller" that though the usual train service was advertised to run on Anniversary Day there was no 7.3 a.m. car from. Northland. Six adults and two children waited for it, and as it did not arrive there was no option but to walk to Glenmore street. The" writer considers' .such mistakes call for investigation" by the Tramways Committee. • 'f\; "Disgusted" claims that many* single young men are coming to Wellington from the country. "Many of them are dissatisfied with the rates of pay for farmhands and are coming to the towns, especially Wellington, and staying with friends in the hope of getting- relief work here." The writer protests against this practice, which makes it more difficult for people in the towns. x It is submitted by "Hard-pushed" that as it is helpful to buy New Zealand goods and also pronrote Empire trade, the people should also patronise New Zealand and British, shopkeepers, thus affording opportunity for employment to Britishers.'
