TO-MORROW SWIMMING CARNIVAL.
Although recognising the fine performances oi' Hi. Bridsou during the week, Dave Lindsay, who is to attempt to lower the Xew; Zealand rccoid for the 440 yards at the Te Aro Baths to-morrow.atteinoon, is quietly, confident that he ■will go very close'to new figures. He is swimming better than ever lie has done in his success-ful-caieei. The race in which he will attempt the lecord will be the centre championship,for that distance, and special arrangements have been made for iiiudsay's participation. He -will be opposed by the best of the local cracks, including Clatidge, Blakeley, and Pelhara, each-of whom will contest the title .and provide'the opposition -for their doughty opponent. Len Moorhouse, who is accompanying Lindsay, is also ,in great form. He is to attempt to lower his own record for the 110 metres, backstroke, a style at which he has no equal. He has won the national title for the past six years. A special r,ace has also been, provided for the attack, in which the opposition provided ' will ensure a fast pace being set all the- way. While these two events will be the main attraction, there are other races which will attract attention. The entries in all the remaining events constitute a recoid, anil as (he programme is varied 'to include diving contests and displays, together with novelty events, a fine afternoon's sport is assured. The general admission price is' Is for adults and 6d for children. Ths carnival is under the control of the Lyall Bay and Maraniii Surf and Life-saving Clubs.
