A CITY LOAN
Several inquiries have been made regarding the Mount "Victoria Tuiiuol Supplementary Loan, 1931, of £11,800 which the City Council is raising locally by the sole of .debentures carrying 5 per cent, and redeemable in. three years. The purpose of the loan is set out,as "for the purpose of completing the new tunnel,?' and this has given rise to a good deal of misunderstanding.
There is no new proposal, nor is the loan really a new. one; for it was authorised some time ago and was hypothecated at the bank; the sale of debentures is the natural next step.
