A deputation representative oi the fruitgrowers of Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Nelson, Motueka, Canterbury, and Otago met the Prime Minister, the Eight Hon. G. W. The deputation asked that the Government make some financial arrangements, as formerly, with the banks, and also that this year's arrangement be not regarded as binding in future, and. that the reserve fund of ljd per case be placed at the disposal of the Government to meet marketing and transport losses.

Mr. Forbes, in reply, said the 'Government, would make the same arrangements as before, namely, a guarantee of 9s per case at tho bank, the levy and use of it to be a matter between the Control Board and Government only; also that the arrangements would be for the current year, and that next year the slate would be wiped clean and fresh negotiations entered into. ( It is understood that a further condition was that there would be no guarantee on fruit examined after 30th April, and that the guarantee on Stunners would be 7s instead of lit.
