MORE DISMISSALS
A STRIKE BALLOT
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
HAMILTON, This Day.
Further, dismissal notices, totalling 15,- were distributed among Grlen; Afton and Macddnald miners yesterday. The' total dismissals. for the two mines are now 167. 'Before the dismissals were made 510 men were employed. After yesterday's list takes.effect there will be only 343 miners in the district. They are now averaging only two days' work a week.- --■ - -.
It is understood that the majority of the men involved in to-day's dismissals are residents of Huntly. This will greatly aggravate unemployment in the district. , . • -
Recently, following the first dismissals, a secret ballot was taken to decide whether the men would go out on strike.. The -''result of the ballot will not be known until after a conference with the mine-owners shortly.
