STAINFORTH'S FRIGHT
The man with nerves of steel, FlightLieutenant G. H. Stainforth, known as "Cast-Iron Stainforth," who last September set up the world's air speed record of 407J miles an hour, had a fright recently and nearly lost his nerve, says the "Daily Mail." It happened when he visited his old school, . Weymouth College. Hundreds of excited boys swooped down on him, "chaired" him, and carried him round the cricket field. Flight-Lieut. Stainforth dodged the crowd and took refuge in the headmaster's study, where he was welcomed by the headmaster, Mr. A. G. Pite, and the Mayor of "W'eyrnouth, Captain i\ W. Hamblin. . Later he went over the school again and saw the old desk where, according to his mathematics master, 'Mr.'H. ,W. Major, :he was "always drawing aeroplanes." '
