LESS BUILDING
POSITION IN THE HUTT
COMPARISON WITH 1930
Substantial declines, particularly with regard to Lower Hutt, where there has been something in the nature of a building boom in recent years, and Eastbourne, are revealed in tlie building returns for tlie suburban boroughs of Lower Hutt/Petone, and Eastbourne for the last year, as compared with the previous year. In Petone the drop is not so pronounced, mainly because the same peak has not been reached' during recent years. ■ Tlie Lower Hutt figures have fallen from £356,536 to £86,089; Eastbourne, from £22,544 to £3758 15s; and Petone..from £.56135 to £42,859.
