GAOL FOR THE OPPOSITION

WABSAW,- 13th January. Heavy sentences were passed oh leaders of the Opposition, arrested at the General Election- of 1930, for plotting against the Pilsudski regime. Vincent Witos, the Populist leader, thrice Premier of Poland, received eighteen months' imprisonment; Hermann Liebermann, Socialist leader, two and a half years; while five others received sentences ranging from two to three years. The trial, lasted two months, and the results have caused consternation in political circles. * ' : •
