NO ENTRY FROM NAPIER

tTAKAPUNA CLASS

Napier -will not compete in the Sandert Cup contest which commences on Welling-; ton Harbour on ISth Jfanuary. The chaiiV man of the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association, Mr. O. Holler, stated last evening that a telegram had been sent to Napier giving them until last Saturday to forward their nomination. No communication from Napier had since been received, so they were excluded from the list,of challengers. The following programme of entertainment in connection witt, the contest was approved at last night's meeting' of the association:— '

Friday, loth. January.—Free night,

Saturday.—l2.3o p.m., Civic reception to delegates and crews. 3 p.m., R.P.N.Y; Club's race*for visitors. 8 p.m., dance at Evans Bay. S p.m., Dominion Conference at Commercial Travellers' Club.

Sunday.—l.3o p.m.; drive through Akatarawa. . , ■.;■.-, ■„■■)'."

Monday.—Launches available to visitorj to follow races. 8 p.m., Heretaunga. Boat. ing : Club's smoke concert.

Tuesday.—Launches available to visitors to follow races.

Wednesday.—Launches available for visitors to follow races. 8 p.m., special dance at/Evans Bay.

Thursday.—-Launches available for'visitors to follow races.

Friday.—Regatta Day.

The Sanders Cup wilf be presented'at 5 p.m. on the day of the final race by the Mayor. ■

The headquarters of the association, the , Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club's rooms, will be open every evening for visitors.' Free picture passes -will also be available to visitors.

When the variation in design of the Takajjuna class boats was under consideration it was decided that notwithstanding the fact that some rudders and sails did not comply with the specifications the boats would be permitted to enter in the Takapuna class on Kegatta Day. The handicapper was instructed to take any variations into consideration. Mr. Moller said that in future owners of Takapuna class boats would have to understand that their boats would have to, comply with the true Takapuna design.
