ARRIVAL OF "VIC" HUXLEY

Bronze-faced and slim of figure, there stepped off the Sydney steamer this morning Victor Nelson Huxley, known under the abbreviated Christian name of "Vie." to speedway enthusiasts throughout England and Australia, and, by. reputation, New Zealand, as a champion among champions in the art of cinder-shifting. Although he has previously passed through Auckland, en route to England, Huxley, who ia accompanied by his;wife, ia on hia first visit to New Zealand. He will be in the Dominion for a month, and in that- time hopes to discover whether what has been said o£ the New Zealand tracks is true, namely, that nil that is required is a last machine. "In England," said Huxley to a "Post" reporter this morning, "you have to have a fast 'bike' and you have to ride it too."

For the past two seasons Huxley has beeh Australia's test captain in the contests against England. He is the holder of innumerable track records and is the recognised world's champion of the sport. Huxley, who was born at Brisbane just over 25 years ago, has been associated with "dirt-track" riding practically since the inception of. the sport, and first went to England in 1928. So far this season Ue has been riding on Brisbane tracks.
