A QUESTIONNAIRE
AUSTRALIAN WOMEN ACT
The Women's Service Guilds of Australia, circularised all candidates for the Senate and House, of Representatives, with" a questionnaire, states "Dawn." There were eight questions, and the following was embodied therein: (1) Concerning the Federal Constitution, asking for the advocacy of a conviction for the immediate- revision of the constitution, such convention to be elected by popular vote, and tho method of voting to be by proportional representation. Also included in the lirst question was the adjustment of State disabilities; more equal representation in the Federal House; lowering of tariffs where primary producing interests arc concerned; and more equitable distribution of Federal revenue. (2) Eequestiug supportof considerable reduction in the cost of Government and administration. (3) Concerning co-operative government and proportional representation with an elective Ministry. (4) More attention to bo focused on the financial system, since it may cause recurring depressions, 'unemployment,- and industrial and social [unrest. (5) Eetention of the principle of tho maternity allowance in its universal application to all mothers. (G) Federal legislation giving British: women the right to retain their nation-' ality on marriage with an alien, and the urging of a Bill embodying the principle. (7) Support of uniform Federal marriage and divorce laws; and (8) urging Government to include women either as delegates, attaches, or observers in the Australian delegation attending the Disarmament Conference) in Geneva in February next.
