SEQUEL TO CONGRESS ACTION

(■United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) CALCUTTA, 4th January. Messrs Gandhi and Vallabhai Patel were arrested at Bombay at 3 o'clock this morning. They were awakened by the police and laken from their beds to gaol. Mr. Patcl has been in the forefront of the disobedience movement during Mr. Gandhi's absence in London. Mr. Gandhi and Mr. Patel, who is the Congress President, were removed from Mr. Gandhi's Bombay residence and taken to the Ycravda Gaol, Poona. The arrests were made under a Provincial regulation of 1327.
