HUTT TOURNAMENT
STORM CHECKS PLAY
A. strong northerly wind, with light driving rain made conditions very unpleasant for the opening of the Hutt Valley Bowling Tournament yesterday morning, and only a small part of the scheduled day's play was disposed of. Large entries were received, and the Lower Hutt, Petone, Central, and Woburn green were in good playing condition until the boisterous conditions upset them in the morning. Between showers, and handicapped by the heavy wind, the players completed the first round in all sections. The weather brightened for to-day's play, and although the greens were slightly stiff from the overnight storm, conditions were vastly improved. Five games, each of 13 heads, are being played to-day. The president of the tournament is Mr. \V. Pawson, and the secretary Mr. F. C. Walton. The results of yesterday's play are:— FIRST ROUND. Section A (Central).
