THE PUPPY

Marie was a little girl with a crooked back. One - night when she was in ted she heard a squeal as if a dog was being hurt; so she woke up.her brother Tedand told him to see of an animal was in pain.
When Ted reached the street he saw two men trying to catch a puppy. One man said to the other: "We'll pretend we found him, and get a fine reward." Ted dashed in between the two men and snatched up the puppy. "When he was safely away, ho looked at the collar, and, found an address.
Ted ran -with the pup to the house, and delivered it to the man who lived there, telling him tho whole story. The man, who was rich, took a great liking to Ted, and a little while later he adopted both Ted and Marie. .Now Marie hasn't a' crooked back anylonger, all though Ted's kindness to their best friend, the puppy.
