SYNOPSIS OF LAST 48 HOURS.
The slight depression located in the Southern Tasman Sea. on Thursday deepened rapidly during the night and yesterday. Strong northerly winds sot In as. It approached, gale force being reached iv Cook Strait and *>arts of the South Island. Testcrday, however, a southerly change advanced gradually from the South. Showers have been widespread In western districts or the North Island and in the South Island. Temperatures fell considerably after the southerly change.
