The "Daily Telegraph" Says: "There is an atmosphere of expectancy. The 'first of the New Year, may see •decisions which will 'determine the immediate future of the civilised world. The credit crisis has made many purses lean, but it has not affected one section of society or one nation alone. \Yo in Britain turned over a new political leaf three months'ago, and 1932 may see the British people tackling their problem in a new and conciuerinespirit." b
; The "Financial Times" regards the [Budget prospect as good. It says: The soundness of the position iv this -respect and the strong support of the Government by the small investors provide a doubly bracing influence with Tchich to start the New Year." "The Times" alludes to the elections here and in New Zealand ana Australia. It says: "A new starting point ,of recovery may well be traced in iuture to these demonstrations that democracy not only in war-time but among the subtler dangers of economic contusion can be trusted to thrive upon truth ' The paper proceeds to: refer to the opening for' reciprocity with ™ms oversea Dominions, and saysWhat .a, new concentration upon the .economics of the Empire might mean for many British difficulties, especially the great question of India, can hardly be overstated." v
