NEW YOEK, Ist January. News from. Eastern Pennsylvania states that an apparently- elaborate antifascist1 plot to kill prominent Italian financier's, editors, and diplomats throughout the Eastern United States has:been exposed. One of a number of packages mailed in the Post Office at Easton, Perm., exploded, killing two peoplo,' injuring two, and wrecking the interior of the building. Later a powder expert of the Dupont Company who was examining another of thfl packages on behalf of detectives waa fatally' injured when that also exploded. Bomb squads immediately rushed to protect persons threatened. The postal officials are carefully examining the mails in ordoor to prevent further trouble. Among tho Fascist supporters to whom packages have been addressed are tho Consul-Gheneral of New York, Signor Grazzi, two other Consuls, an Argentine official^ the . editor of tho "ItaloFaber," tlie editor of "II Progresso," a prominent manufacturer, and others. FEABS AT WASHINGTON. ' At Washington almost hysterical fears were aroused by the delivery of bomb packages, particularly following the dolivery to-day ly railway express of a dynamite bomb marked "silver spoons" to Count Bujizi Gradenigo, the Italian Consul-General at Cleveland. The sender's name on the package was that of the Consul's closo friend in New York. Gradenigo immediately, made a trunk-line telephone call, and' when he learned that no package had been sent by his friend the police were summoned. The box was taken to a rifle range, where it was exploded with a long-distance rifle shot. It bored a hole of 30 feet in circunxferenco in tho ground. A similar package was sent to Oscar Durante, editor of the Itajian language newspaper at Chicago. It was refused acceptance by his employe.es, and was hauled back and forth all day in a crowded loop district in a motor-lorry before ifc could be apprehended by the police. EMBASSIES GUARDED. Tho Italian Ambassador, Signor Be Martini, called on the State Department, after which prompt measures were taken to protect Italian official representatives throughout the'country Heavy guards have been set about the Italian, and Argentine embassies at Washington. .'.■.-.. . , Police everywhere are being stationed m the homes of Italian representatives, and, prominent Italian-Americans in Chicago, where the police intercepted and successfully exploded four explosive packets addressed to persons not revealed. An attempt is being made to head off a fifth bomb known to have been sent to.the Italian Consul; Sienor Castruccio.

Bombs have been received by the Italian Consuls at Detroit, Youngstown and Ohio. J
