URUGUAY CANNOT PAY
DEBT AMORTISATION
PROSPECTIVE DEFICIT

MONTEVIDEO, Ist January.
Uruguay will suspend amortisation payments on its foreign debt, but will make interest payments punctually, the Government decided yesterday. Suspension is necessitated by the prospective deficit of more than three million pesos on 30th June next.
