A LITTLE LESS LANG

The Lang Plan blot in the Federal House of Representatives is diminishing in size, arid it' seems that the Sydney electorates will not have such a Lang complexion after all. At first it was thought that the five Lang Planners (otherwise Lang Labourites or Beasleyites) in the retiring House would be doubled; but now, according to Wednesday's figures, they will be reduced to four by the loss of that veteran Federal member, Mr. Lazzarini, who lost at Werriwa. Other progress reports of the counting of the preferences votes during the week indicate that East Sydney, South Sydney, and Barton have all, in the finish, declared for United Australia candidates against Lang Planners. Cook likewise rejected, in the final count, the noted Lang Planner, Mr. "Jock" Garden, but he was beaten by a Federal Labour man (a Scullinite). Outside New South Wales the Lang Plan does not seem to have counted, except that in Brisbane a' three-cornered fight between Lang Planner, Federal Labourite, and U.A.P. resulted.in the U.A.P. man, who was leading, being defeated when the Lang Plan preference votes went to the Federal Labourite and put him in. But there is little else that the Scullinites can thank the Lang Planners for. .If the election of Mr. Gander (Lang Pkn) for Reid means that he will presently resign and let into the Federal Parliament Mr. 'Lang himself, Mr. Scullin's cup will Ibe filled to the brim. Instead of Mr. Theodore he will have Mr. Lang. (Should Mr. Lang secure from Mr. Scullin the Labour lieutenancy vacated by Mr. Theodore, the comedy of party politics will be complete.
