AUCKLAND, 30th December.

Following a raid by detectives, Thomas Curran, aged 54, a tobacconist, of Hobson street, appeared before Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., in the Police Court charged with using his premises as a common gaming house; '

Curran pleaded guilty, and was fined £100.

"The last time Curran was here, in October, 1930, be was fined £100," said Detective-Sergeant Kelly. "This is his fourth conviction. Bookmaking is his profession.'.'

"I have no option but to fine you £100," said-Mr. Cutten.
