Once upon a .time there was a little girl named Patty. Now Patty's Mummy was going to take her to uce Father Christinas in three weeks' time. This is what she was going to ask for: A basketball, a racquet, a pair of silk stockings, a box of paints, a new brush and comb, a doll, a doll's pram, and such a number of other things, too. She was going to tell, her mother when she eaine to say good-night.-But just them an elf. heard all she' said, and ran off to tell Fairiel, his Queen, about the greedy- littlo girl. : Queen Fairiel said to bring Patty to her and she would see about it. Patty was brought to Fairiel. Fairiel said that sho must not be so greedy, as little girls who asked for so many things got nothing. Patty thought that she .would rather have a box of paints, so all the other things were not thought of. Spite of this, she found a lovely stocking on Christmas Day. t ■ . . "GRUMPY" (10). Karori.
