THE MAYOR'S APPEAL
The Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, hat asked that those who are able to do sa should contribute, in. sums small or large, to a Christmas fund list whicli' he is opening at the Town Hall thi» afternoon.
"One realises that it is difficult for people to spare anything at the. present time," said Mr. Hislop, "but in view of the season and the want of so. many; of our people in Wellington I shall b« grateful if those who are able to make some donation will do so in order to brighten Christmas for those who ara without means of comfort and sub* sistence. I shall be pleased to receiva and acknowledge subscriptions of any; amount. The funds raised will be distributed among the most necessitous cases by the organisations which hay« done such good work during the past months, and those who are able to assist may be assured that their help will be very timely." "The Evening Post" to-day alsai opened a list, which is headed by ai donation of £100 from the proprietors. Subscriptions may thus.be left or sent! either to the Mayor, at the Town Hall, or at "The Post." Donations received' at this office will be forwarded to ths Mayor for distribution.
