DYSON'S CAREER
VERSATILE MAN
Edward Dyson, tiged 66, poet, author, and journalist, has died'at his home in Tennyson street, St. Kilda, after a long illness, says the "Sydney Sun."
Dyson was born in a small mining township, some miles from Ballarat, and in his boyhood drove a horse on the goldfield. Later, when the family moved to Melbourne, he worked in a factory, and his experiences there were subsequently caricatured in his series of comedy studies, "Factry 'Ands."
He produced several books and plays, among the latter being "The Golden Shanty." Political articles, prize fights, art criticisms, lines for jokes, and cartoons, and even advertisements, all came within his sphere. Dyson was the eldest of. a remarkable family, among whonj were Will Dyson, Mrs. Harrison Owen, Mrs. Harry Blake, and Mrs. Lionel' Lindsay..
His wife, Euby, was a well-known black and white artist and a sister- of Lionel Lindsay. There was, therefore, a double marriage ,in two artistic families.
