CRACK CYCLISTS

BIG KACE AT PETONE,

Ranking next in importance to a New Zealand championship event, the five miles Laykold Cup cycle race, to be decided on the banked track at the Petoue Oval on Saturday afternoon, has drawn a record entry of thirty. Among the riders who intend competing for the coveted trophy are T. O'Brien (New Zealand triple champion), Frank Grose (ex-New Zealand title-holder), L. Pearce (three miles record holder), who has been absent from Wellington; T. Roe (Wellington champion), and P. N. Robinson. With these riders forming the back division, the race should be a "scorcher." A full athletic programme has been drawn up, and, all the leading athletes will be in action, including Jenkins (New Zealand champion), Valk (ex-Otago champion), Hamilton (West Coast champion), Crook (Petone), and Bayne (New Zealand champion). The first event is to start at 2.15 p.m.
