AUSTRALIAN WOOL
DISPOSALS THIS SEASON
It is expected that the wool clip for Australia this season will reach very nearly 3,000,000 bales; about 1,000,000 bales have been shipped to latest returns. Figures for November are not yet compiled, but according to details issued by the Wool Buyers' Association 669,428 bales were shipped from Australian ports during the period Ist July to 31st October this year, and- in October 341,908 bales were shipped. . . Assuming that the November shipments approximate ■ those for October, it may be assumed that: the total shipments are about IjOOOjOOO bales. The great bulk of the wool comprising these shipments is this season's wool.
Last year, from July to October inclusivei 647,444 bales were shipped, and of that quantity 371,736 bales were shipped in October. The November shipments last year amounted to 346,583 bales. The .heavy purchasea made for Yorkshire this year is shown by the shipments to the United Kingdom. To 31st October this season 276,687 bales have gone to the United Kingdom. To Japan, the next best purchaser of Australian wool, 139,201 bales have been sent. Over the same period 85,958' bales went to France, 59,841 bales to Belgium, 54,275 to Germany, 47,374 to Italy, and 8149 bales to the United States. Sweden, India, Czechoslovakia, Canada, Hong Kong, China, Netherlands,.Spain, and Greece are other buyers, but to these countries combined the ■ shipments, totalled, only about 3500 bales. .
