HOKITIKA, 7th December.

• At a sitting of the Arbitration Court at Hokitika two claims for compensation were dealt with.

Rasmus Anker Madsea was granted £466 as the result of an accident in the Koterangi lime kilm in October, 1930. James Edwin Searle was granted £23 and 5} per cent, of the full compensation for the remainder of the period of liability as the result of an accident at the Maranui timber mill in June last, whereby he lost portion of his middle finger.
