CLAY BIRD SHOOTING

On Saturday afternoon the Hutt Valley Gun Club fired the first stage of the club championship, 21 birds from the 12 yards mark. A very tricky south-east wind tended to make shooting condition! rather difficult. W. J. H. Haase and A. Dennison. were the most successful, shooting 20 birds apiece, and had to Bhoot off for the trophy, Haase winning on the fourth extra bird from 15 yards. The second match, for the Tisdall Cup, was won by L. A. Caldwell (19yds), with a possible of 15, all broken with the first barrel. As this was Caldwell's third win, the cup becomes his own property. The afternoon concluded with two double rise events, the first being divided between H. Smith and H. H. Morris, with sis birds apiece. The second was won by O. Moore, with nine birds, W. J. H.
