JS._Eage,..S.M.._, A remand until Friday was granted in the-case-of-Thomas -Mitchell,-^ labourer,aged 22, who was alleged to be a prohibited immigrant-and to have unlawfully landed in New-Zealand. When Harold. .Patersqn, a catjvdsser, aged 30, was charged with behaving in a disorderly manner in ._■, Brougham street, he told the Magistrate there was only one thing wrong with him, and that was that he had a violent temper which he was unable to control. Sub-Inßpector Lopdell said that the accused was seen in a frenzy, waving his hands about and calling out. He seemed to be quite out of control, and wlien"he ,was taken to the police station he continued to carry pn in the same-way. A doctor "was called in' to Swijiimc.hini, buthe said-that Paterson's condition w.as just a passing spasm. Mr.-Page convicted the accused and ordered him to pay medical expenses iimounting to £2 2s. " A remand to appear at Auckland on 4th December was granted in- the case of John Hartland Pearson, a salesman, aged 21, who is charged with obtaining £15. from Ivy Walmsley by a false pretence. Charged with the theft of £76 4s 9d from the person of Gwendoline Mavis Evans, John Augustus Jeaneff,. a butcher, aged 26, was further remanded until 9th December. The money was the property. of the firm of M'Lean and Archibald. The. annual crime list of _.the United States of America includes some 12,000 murders, 100,000 hold-ups, and ' 500,000 burglaries. .
