"I LIKE THAT CLUB"
MR. FIELD'S HUMOUR
■• "I was thinking of joining the Labour. Party," facetiously remarked Mr. W. H. Field, Coalition candidate for Otaki, when speaking at Taita. last evening.
His remark was greeted with loud applause by a section of his audience.
"Because," ho continued, "I feel that they are a most, excellent body of men."
A voice: "You always change."
Mr. Field read extracts from tho "New Zealand "Worker," which stated, among other things, that admission to places of amusement should he free; -(hat nobody would need to go to the banks, because money would be useless; and that every fanner should possess a motor-car, petrol to be given free. (Laughter.)
"I would like to join that club," said Mr. Field, amidst merriment. "It would suit me down to the ground, I wonder who.'- the subscription, is."
