SALARIES AND WAGES
GOVEKNMENT'S HOPE
NO FURTHER SACRIFICES
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHEISTCHURCH, This Day.
In reply to a question about possible future wage reductions, the Prime Minister (Mr. Forbes) telegraphed the "Christchurch Star" to-day as follows: —
"No one regrets more than the Government that the position of the Dominion necessitated the reduction in. salaries and wages which took place esrlier in the year. I may say that the question has not been considered in any way by the present Government, and it is hardly necessary for me to state that we earnestly hope no sacrifices in connection with salaries, wages, or pensions in future will have to be asked .of the people."
