"LADIES' NIGHT"
WADESTOWN SOCIETY
The Wadestown aud Highland Park Men's Society entertained the -wives and lady friends of members in an original and highly successful fashion. This "ladies' night" concluded the third season of the society—a season in which remarkable progress,- has been made and much useful and instructive work has been done. Addresses, have been given, by leading men in public affairs, art, and sportj and valuable discussions have been held. The concluding function was in every way worthy of the season. It was principally a "nautical" evening. An entertaining address on "The Eomanee of the Sea" was given by Captain. F. A.; Maciadoe, and a nautical revue, "Bound for Eio," was staged. The stage,.for the purpose, was dressed as a ship, giving an effective setting for sea songs, shanties, and dances. Apart from this original revue, there was a pleasing programme of musical items, followed by a dance. Mr. G. L. Stewart, president of the society, welcomed the guests. The thanks of the society wore afterwards tendered to all who had helped in the entertainment, including Captain Macindoe, Mr. A. B. Hannah (secretary of the society and producer of the revue), Mr. Bernard Withers (musical director), and Mr. L. C. Hemcry (pianist). Tho society's appreciation of the work done in- throe, years by the president and secretary was suitably expressed, and a token of this appreciation was handed to Mr. Hannah. The whole of the arrangements for the evening, including artistic decoration of St. Luke's Hall and the preparation of a delightful supper, were made by the men themselves.
