NEW PLYMOUTH NOTES
HORSES FOR FEILDING
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.")
NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day
The New Plymouth tracks continue to be hard and fast. Most of the work is being done on the plough, which is in great order.
Nearly all the local horses will be- racing at Feilding next week. E. George is taking Lady Quex, Merry Way, and probably Easter Time, J. O'Neill Glowlight, and R. Johnson Arvada and possibly two others. Little Doubt will probably be found contesting the Alison Cup at Takapuna. .- '•". -. ■.■■-:.
Easter.Time is showing definite signs of coming back.to form. He was responsible for a nice five furlongs on the plough on Thursday. He did not go very fast over the first part, the initial two furlongs taking 26 2-ssec, and the three furlongs 39]/i sec, but he reeled off the final- two furlongs in 24% sec, to finish the full distance in lmin 4sec. He was moving in great style over the last two furlongs. Lady Quex continues to get through the tasks allotted her in good style, and will take her place in the field for the Feilding Stakes, an event that she won last year. She has improved a lot since her racing at Trentham, and will strip a fit mare next Saturday.
R. Barlow took March Alone, Sparkling Morn, and Monaghan to Te Rapa, and though he did not secure a win the iirst two showed good form. March Alone was second the first day and third the second. He has had an easy time since Wanganui, and the racing is sure to have done him a lot of good. Ho should prove decidedly useful later on in the season.
The Silverado-Limelight filly Glowligh't may be a starter in the Feilding Stakes. Though she has done nicely of late, she would appear to have little chance in.this event, but it will nerve to sharpen her up for the handicap nursery the second day. There is every possibility of Merry Way also starting.on the second day, and the bracketed pair would be sure to be well in the market. There is no doubt about the pace of Merry Way, and she is still improving.
