BRED IN NEW ZEALAND

"Gallantic, winner of the V.R.C. Ouks, has. special interest to New Zealanders, as she was actually bred in the Dominion at- the Elderslie Stud. She was one of a draft- sent across to Melbourne for the March .-sales, and was secured for 200 guineas by Mr. C. B. Kellow, who owned her sire, Heroic, at the time of some of his greatest triumphs.

•Esther, the dam. of Gallantic, .in an imported English-bred mare,, and is owned by Mr. 1..G-. Duncan. She was got by. Stantry (son. of. Gallinule.). from Persepolis, a daughter of Persimmon and Bend Or's daughter Medora. Mated with New Zealand stallions, Esther threw a number of winners, .the best known being T.O.U. (by Pager Money). Phocion (by Boniforni). both located in Melbourne, and Miss Bradbury (by Paper Money), ;t winner in the Dominion. In 1927 Mr. Duncan decided' to send Esther to Australia to be served by Heroic (standing at Mr. 11. Thompson's. Oakloigh Stud), and the filly, foal now known as Gallantic was the result of the mating.
