LABOUR PARTY'S OBJECTIVE
(To the Editor.)
, Sir, —JJr. K. A. Wright is reported to nave said at hisf'meeting last night that this 'objective , (the socialisation of production, distribution, and exchange) "w.is riot in the Labour Party's platform now."
Of course, Mr. Wright may have been misrepoi'ted, otherwise he made a mistake, because this objective is still in the party's official platform. What is being Iried on the electors by the Labour Socialist Party is the issue; of a manifesto containing a number of proposals which are not in the platform which its. members are pledged to carry out if returned. The Socialist candidates are pledged to faithfully uphold and whole-heartedly work for the objective and platform and no other." They have issued a manifesto which does not contain the planks of this platform, knowing well that if returned to, power their pledge will_ compel them to carry out a policy which- has never been before the electors.—We are, etc., N.Z. WELFARE LEAGUE. 19th. November.
