THEFT OF COAT
Barney Vincent Reardon, a labourer* aged 29, was sentenced to six months' inw prisonment by Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day;1 for stealing an overcoat valued at £8 Bs* the property of A. P. Simister. Detective-Sergeant Revoll said that w 6th November a. coat was stolen from'out-' side Mr. Simister's shop in Victoria? street. About 8 p.m. the same day Rear*' don and another man went into a second-; hand shop, and the accused tried to sell! the coat for £1. The-dealer refused tnjj buy the coat, which was afterwards, soldi; for 5s to another dealer. ' The Detective-; Sergeant said that attempts had been| made to' locate the other man, but they; were not successful. In sentencing Reardon the Magistrate* said that the accused had recently served? a sentence of nearly nine months' im-4 prisonment for breaking and entering andl': theft.
