YEAR'S WORK REVIEWED
Considering the abnormal times that are prevailing, the board had a very successful year, states tho report of tho Wellington Catholic Education Trust Board,' presented to the nineteenth annual meeting on Wednesday. The total receipts were £.2048, and the expenditure £27-11, leaving a deficiency of £93. Bequests totalling £4557, which arc subject to certain contingencies before being handed to tho board, incretiso tho capital fund from £24,230 to £28,700. The Sunday penny collection, the main source of the board's revenue, totalled £1043, showing a decline of £52 on last year's figures. Siuco the inauguration of the board nineteen I'ears ago the Sunday-penny collection lias aggregated £14,850; donations and bequests total £7119; interest from investments, -£7334; annual school social, £2747; St. Patrick's Day celebrations, £2882; other collections, £1977. ..
The board, it was stated, has jurisdiction over twelve primary schools with a staff- of forty-four teachers and a roll of 1736 pupils, of whom 805 arc boys and 871 girls. Pupils presented for tho proficiency examination numbered. 158, 155 passing, _ one gaining competency,' and two failing.
