CLAIM FOR DAMAGES
Decision' was reserved by Mr. W. H. Wooward, S.JI., in the Magistrate s Court at Lower Hutfc yesterday, in a case in which T. W. Forster, a fitter, claimed from A. Hare, a carrier, £50 as damages for the sendiug by the defendant of an alleged defamatory letter to the plaintilf. Evidence for the plaintiff showed that the letter, which gave notice to lorster to vacate Hare's premises, at the time being rented by Forster, was delieverd to Forster's door by messenper boy and read first by Forster's wife. It was on a piece of paper, folded but not sealed. The defence submitted that there.had been no publication of the letter-. Hare was given judgment by consent for £10 10s on a counter-claim for rent allegedly owing by Forster.
