Mr. D. A. Ewcn is leaving for the South by the Wahine to-niglit. Mr. P. S. K. Macassoy is leaving for the South to-night by the Wahine. Mr. William Maeliin, of Christchurch, is returning South to-night. Sir Frederick and Lady Chapman will be among the passengers leaving for the South by the Wahino to-night. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Speer, of Colombo, are staying at tho Hotel St. George. '.-'.. At tho annual meeting of the Dominion Council of the Boy Scouts' Association of New Zealand, held _at Christchurch yesterday, Mr. J. E. Kirk, M.8.E., of Gisborne, was unanimously re-electea chairman of the council for the ensuing year. Mr. Thomas Bush died at his residence, 147, Ghuznee street, this morning at the ago of 79 years. He was born in Kent, England, in 1852, and came to New Zealand with his parents at an. early age, living for a number of years at Nelson and'Wanganui. In 1889 Mr. Bush came to Wellington with his family, and until his retirement in 1914 he was actively interested in the business of the Union Clothing Company, Ltd. He was elected to the Wellington City Council in 1915 and remained in office until 1917. An enthusiastic bowler, Mr. Bush was a pastpresident of the. New Zealand Bowling Association and a past-president of the Wellington Bowling Club. Only last season he participated in the Wellington Bowling Centre's tournament for veterans. In the Mr, Bush was a keen oarsman and he won many trophies at Wanganui, where he also played a prominent part in. the administrative side of the sport. There are four sons, Messrs. George Bush (Auckland), Charles and Sidney Bush (Wellington), and Pirie Bush (Adelaide). The funeral is to take place at the Karori Cemetery on. Saturday morning.
