ANOTHER CUT COMING?
MR. M'KEEN SAYS "YES'
Is another cut coming in the, Civil Service? Mr. E. M'Keen, Labour candidate for Wellington South, says there is. "There is another cut coming as sure ns I am speaking to you to-night," Mr. M'Keen said to a packed audience at Ncwtown last evening when warning his electors against tho Coalition Government's policy. "If . tho General Election had boon postponed, tho cut would have been put into effect this month. There was a t\ per cent, cut proposed. It will come oven yet. It,
might be in February. There will be a session early in the- year. A voice: "Provided they go back." Mr. M'Keen: "Yes; if they go back the extra cut will come, and social services will be further reduced. _ They havo already reduced the Civil Service to a skeleton. But they have kept the heads on.".
