WEDDINGS
The marriage was celebrated last evening at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral of Ruth, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert A. Wylie, North Terrace, Kelburn, and Charles Arthur, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Whitman, London. The ceremony was performed by tho Rev. Canon P. James. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a handsome frock of deep pearl pinktinted peau d'ange, the hip yoke and the short jerkin bodice being bordered with a floral design in black glace. The long skirt was cut to form a short train at the back, and her pale pink tulle veil was caught with a cluster of pink roses and orange blossom at one side. She carried a bouquet of pink I roses. The three bridesmaids. Misses Beth Huater (chief), Betty Taylor, and Peggy James (Masterton), wore sleeveless frocks of pale apple green georgette, the long slightly-trained skirts falling from moulded hip yokes composed of diagonally-cut pieces. Small shoulder capes finished the bodices, and their tiny hats of georgette were finished with apricot coloured roses. Bouquets of the same coloured roses were carried. Mr. Basil Wright was best man, and Messrs. G. A. Wylie and Henry Sproule groomsmen. The subsequent reception was held at the Conference Hall of the Dominion Farmers' Institute, and dancing was enjoyed by a large number of guests. Mrs. Wylie wore a smartly-cut frock of black printed chiffon, the hem of heavy black lace having large appliques of the coloured chiffon. Her wide-brimmed hat was of fine Bangkok straw, and she carried a bouquet of roses. Mrs. Andrew Wylie (aunt of the bride) wore a frock of black lace and a black hat. Miss Muriel Wylie was in turquoise blue lace. When the bride and bridegroom left later for a motor tour, the bride wore a tailored suit of flecked "blarney" tweed and a tweed bowler hat finished with a scarlet quill.
