An account in the "Age" newspaper last February of the puichase of the New Zealand racehorse Palermo was
the subject of a libel action, when William M'Dermott, former proprietor of the "Graphic," a weekly paper, sued tin proprietors of the "Age" for £5000 damages. M'Dermott said that the article alleged that he had dishonoured an agreement to purchase the horse, which subsequently won a largo stake in New Zealand.
